The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (6-11) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (0-2) behind two strong pitching efforts in Thursday afternoon's double-header. The Vikings won the first game 5-2 and forced the 10-run rule in the sixth inning of game two, winning 11-1.
Mike Tietjen (Oneonta/Oneonta) tossed a complete game, fanning nine batters in game one and Bobby Peluso (Columbia/East Greenbush) went 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs. In game two, Tim Murdick (Averill Park/East Greenbush) controlled the game on the mound striking out 12 batters in six innings, while Nick Papas (Maple Hill/Castleton) led all batters going 2-3 from the plate in the rout.
The Vikings host Jefferson Community College in a double-header on Saturday, April 9 starting at 1 p.m. The following day, they travel to Jefferson for another double-header at 1 p.m.
