Sophomore Nate Novak (Hudson/Hudson High School) was three-for-four with a double, a home run and four RBI to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (4-10) baseball team to a 15-4 win over Holyoke Community College (4-12) in the opening game of a doubleheader played today at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. Hudson Valley also won the nightcap, 9-1.
Hudson Valley pounded out 14 hits in just four innings in the opener. Freshmen Matt Valenti (Troy/Troy High School), Jeremy Villano (Schuylerville/Schuylerville High School) and Ryan Washburn (Schuylerville/Schuylerville High School) and sophomore Don Reilly (Troy/Troy High School) each had two hits for the Vikings.
Freshman pitcher Chris Chisena (Troy/Troy High School) allowed four hits and two unearned runs in three innings to pick up the win in the opener. He struck out three and walked two.
Freshman Scott Longe (Stuyvesant/Ichabod Crane High School) had two hits and drove in three runs in the second game. Freshman Marc Peluso (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) had two hits and drove in two runs.
Freshman Justin Shannon (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) pitched two innings of hitless ball to get the win on the mound. He struck out four and walked one.
