Sophomore Carmine Berghela (Albany/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) had four hits and drove in two runs to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (25-8) baseball team to a 17-5 win over The College of Saint Rose's (2-12) junior varsity team earlier today in Troy. Hudson Valley has now won 18 of its last 20 games since returning from its spring trip.
Sophomore Joel Molina (Middletown/Middletown High School) added three hits and an RBI for Hudson Valley. He moves into a tie for fourth place on the college's all-time hit list with 84 hits, equaling former NJCAA All-American and current University at Albany standout Steve Sayre. Sophomore Paul Pietrowski (Beacon/Beacon High School) contributed a three-run triple and finished the game with four RBI.
Sophomore pitcher K.K. Pierce (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) allowed three runs on six hits in four innings of work to pick up the win and improve his record to 3-2 on the year.
Michael Murphy and Bill Behrle each had solo home runs for Saint Rose.
Hudson Valley, ranked No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, will host Morrisville State College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23.
