The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team, ranked 12th in the preseason NJCAA Division III poll, improved its record to 9-2 with a doubleheader sweep of Chowan JV. Hudson Valley won the opener, 16-11, and the second game, 9-8.
In the opener, sophomore Paul Terry (Waterford/Catholic Central High School) had two hits and four runs batted in to lead Hudson Valley. Sophomore Bill Kelts (Waterford/Christian Brothers Academy) added three hits and two RBI.
Sophomore Ryan Gijon-Owen (Puebla, Mexico/Bowie, TX high School) had a go-ahead two run single in the sixth inning of the nightcap for Hudson Valley. Freshman Craig Mastroianni (Colonie/Colonie High School) hit a two-run triple in the third inning, sparking Hudson Valley to a six-run inning.
