The Hudson Valley Community College men's baseball and women's fast pitch softball teams are both ranked No. 18 on the final NJCAA Division III poll of the season.
The men are currently 27-10 overall and are led by Columbia graduate Wes Dedrick. The second-year outfielder is hitting .370 and has belted five home runs. He also has 35 RBI.
The women own a 10-10 record and are led by pitcher Angela Jackson. The Colonie grad, a freshman, has pitched 19 complete games this season, posting a 10-9 record and a 3.18 earned run average. She is eighth in the nation among NJCAA Division III pitchers with 77 strikeouts, and has the second-best batting average on the Hudson Valley squad (.397).
Region III playoffs begin May 12 for baseball and May 9 for softball. Hudson Valley should find out about seeding and opponents this weekend.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
