Cross Country Earns Six Top-25 Finishes at Fred Pavlich Invitational 

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country program continue to improve their scores as they earned three top-20 finishes at the Fred Pavlich Invitational at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. 

The men's team started the day off with the running of the 8,000-meter course. Hudson Valley had four runners place inside the top-20 and were led by top runner, Shazim Permaul, who placed 2nd overall, with a final time of 27:39. Eric Zumpe also placed inside the top-20 for the second consecutive week with an official time of 31:24.

Trevor Dzikowicz and Garrick Smith-Growick rounds out the Vikings top-25 finishers. Dzikowicz improved crossed the finish line at Bard in 21st place with a time of 31:54. Smith-Growick placed 24th with an official time of 32:43. Jakob Quail and Benjamin Bulan rounds out the Vikings scoring. Quail finished 29th with a time of 34:40 and Bulan crossed the line in 41st place at 36:13.  

The women's team closed out the day off with the running of the 6,000-meter course. The Vikings top runner was Olivia Skylstad, who finished 20th overall with an official time of 28:38. Jessica Wank also finished with a top-25 finish, crossing the line at 29:29.

Rounding out the women's team scores for the Vikings were Eva Sgambettera (31st  – 32:04), Ellicia Swedish (36th – 33:39) and Elizabeth Erno (52nd – 46:35). 

The cross country programs are off next week and return to action on Saturday, October 2 when they compete in the Cazenovia College 12th Annual XC Invitational.
