Joseph L. Bruno Stadium

The 4,500-seat Joseph L. Bruno Stadium hosts the Tri-City ValleyCats, an independent professional baseball affliate of the Frontier League, and former Houston Astros-affiliated Class A baseball team from the New York-Penn League.

Hudson Valley’s nationally ranked baseball team, which posted a 26-19 record in 2006, also plays its home games at “The Joe.” In fact, on April 6, 2002, in the first-ever game at the stadium, Hudson Valley pitcher Michael Harbor recorded the inaugural strikeout at “The Joe,” retiring a Holyoke Community College batter in the top of the first inning.

The finest baseball facility in the area, the stadium also offers new academic opportunities to Hudson Valley’s students – for example, a Physical Education bachelor’s degree program offered through Hudson Valley and Sage Colleges utilizes this facility – and it serves as a community resource.

In May 2001, Senator Joseph Bruno secured funds to construct the $14-million baseball stadium at Hudson Valley Community College. With an average daily workforce of 60 tradesmen and -women, Capital Region contractors performed 85 percent of the stadium’s construction, and more than $5 million in construction materials were produced in the Capital Region.
