The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball program earned one of the biggest wins in recent history as they defeated No. 10 Dutchess, 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-18), on senior night at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC on Tuesday night.

The nationally-ranked Falcons took home the first set of the match as the Vikings struggled with a couple costly mistakes. But, the Vikings found a way and recovered to win the next three sets to earn the program's first win against a top-10 program in recent history.

Leading the offensive attack was Sidney Phillips and Abby Taylor, who combined for 18 kills on 59 attack attempts. Phillips continued to serve well as she finished with a team-best three service aces and added three block assists. Taylor also dominated at the net as she finished with a team best four solo blocks.

Adding to the defensive prowess for the Vikings was Adriana Diaz Rolon and Abbigail Newell, who combined for 55 digs. Over the course of the previous two weeks, the Vikings defense has continued to grow into one of the better defending teams in the region. As a team, Hudson Valley accumulated 131 total digs, a season-high on the year.

Another main piece to the high-octane attacking offense is the tremendous setting ability by Regina Ware-Salazar, who played a big role in tonight's upset win. She finished with 32 assists and she added six kills, 1 solo block, three assisted blocks and 15 digs.

Up next for the women's volleyball team is an away match at SUNY Ulster on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. before heading to Fulton-Montgomery on Saturday, Oct. 21st for the Mountain Valley Conference championships.
