The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team jumped out to a strong start in their Tuesday evening home match against Ulster by winning the first set, but ultimately fell short in forcing the decisive fifth set and were defeated 3-1 by the Senators.

The four-set match was entertaining as both programs battled back and forth that narrowly missed a fifth set with Ulster pulling away to claim the fourth set 27-25 to secure the win. Hudson Valley won their first set of the season, 25-23, in the opening set of the game.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 28 kills, 34 digs, three blocks and 11 service aces. Individually, Alyssa Bruno and Regina Salazar-Ware led the offensive attack with seven kills each and they combined for all three solo blocks.

Skyler Kennedy and Adrianna Diaz-Rolon each finished the game with seven assists, out of the team's 16 total assists. Diaz-Rolon also added a team-best 14 digs, out of the team's total of 34 digs.

Volleyball returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 for their first Region 3 Pod of the year. They will travel to Monroe Community College and will take on Monroe, Genesee and Finger Lakes.
