The Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis team placed second at the 2022 NJCAA Region 3 championships, hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College, in Utica, NY.

Mohawk Valley earned the Region 3 title, but the Vikings managed to win key matches to claim the runners-up title. Zara Cole, the Vikings No. 2 seed, winning the Region 3 singles championship. Cole also won the Region 3 title as top-ranked duo with Aubrie Murphy. Cole had to win two matches to claim her singles title as she began the day winning the semifinal round 6-3, 6-1 over Herkimer's Jordan Cody. She later went on to defeat the top-ranked No. 2 player from Mohawk Valley, Rebecca Huynh in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 for the championship. 

Cole and Murphy entered the championships as the top-ranked duo, which afforded them a bye into the championship match. Cole and Murphy defeated Mohawk Valley's top duo in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to claim the No. 1 doubles championship. Cole and Murphy were named All-Region First Team for their championship performances. Murphy was also named Second Team at the No. 1 singles flight. 

Ckailea Kewley was named to the All-Region second team as the Vikings No. 6 ranked singles player. She was defeated in the championship match in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6. Kewley teamed up with Sidney Phillips as earned All-Region Second Team honors after they were defeated in the No. 3 doubles title match. 

Up next for the women's tennis program is the NJCAA National Championships from Nov. 4-6^th in Peachtree, Ga.
