The Hudson Valley women's tennis program dropped its season-opener 7-2 at home against the defending Region 3 champions, Mohawk Valley. 

The Vikings top-seeded player, Aubrie Murphy (Queensbury / Lake George) won a tough three-set match over Philymena DiKar 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 to earn her first win of the season. Murphy also teamed up with Zara Cole to win another point for Hudson Valley as the program's top doubles team. Murphy and Cole won their doubles match 8-5 over DiKar and Rebecca Huynh. 

The women's tennis team returns to the courts on Monday, Sept. 19 when they travel to take on Castleton University at 4 p.m. in Castleton, Vermont.
