Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight with 4-3 Match Win

The Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis team won their second straight match after defeating Mohawk Valley 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Vikings won two of the five singles matches and then swept the doubles matches to secure the match win. The Vikings Jacqueline Bornt (Wynantskill/Averill Park) won her match in straight sets as the team's No.1 seed. She defeated Autumn Fallon 6-0, 6-0 to remain unbeaten in Singles action. Later, Bornt and Miranda Morrison  (Colonie/Colonie) teamed up at the Vikings No.1 Doubles team to defeat Mohawk Valley's Fallon and Taylor Johnson 8-2. 

Morrison defeated Johnson in the No.2 Singles flight in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Susannah Frisch (Cambridge/Cambridge) and Natalie Mercedes (Rensselaer/Rensselaer) both dropped their singles matches but they later teamed up to win the No.2 Doubles match by the score of 8-4. Their doubles win secured the Vikings match win. 

The women's tennis team is back in action to play Herkimer at home on Monday, September 24 at 4 p.m.
