Women's Tennis Earns Road Win over Herkimer 6-3

The Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis team earned a 6-3 win over regional rival Herkimer on the road on Thursday afternoon. 

The Vikings won the first four matches and later added wins at the No.1 Doubles and No.2 Doubles flights. The Vikings Jacqueline Bornt (Wynantskill/Averill Park) won her match in straight sets as the team's No.1 seed. She defeated Jill Dudin 6-0, 6-0 to remain unbeaten in Singles action. Later, Bornt and Miranda Morrison  (Colonie/Colonie) teamed up at the Vikings No.1 Doubles team to defeat Herkimer's team of Jordan Lee and Sonya Ogden 8-1.

Morrison defeated Ogden in the No.2 Singles flight. Susannah Frisch (Cambridge/Cambridge) won her first collegiate tennis match as the Vikings No.3 Singles player as she defeated Lee in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. 

Natalie Mercedes (Rensselaer/Rensselaer) won her No.4 Singles match over Carli Brenon in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Frisch and Mercedes also teamed up to win the Vikings No.2 Doubles match 8-3. 

The women's tennis team is back in action on Saturday, September 22 as they travel on the road to play Mohawk Valley at 1 p.m.
