The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer program overcame rainy weather to defeat North Country 1-0 and advanced to the Region 3 semifinals, a match with No. 3 Onondaga on Tuesday.

The Vikings and North Country fought hard the entire game and a handball on North Country inside the keeper's box proved to be the difference maker as Lauren Foglia successfully converted the penalty kick to give the Vikings the 1-0 advantage at the 55:49 mark in the second half.

Josephine O'Hare also had to overcome the elements as she recorded three saves, which weren't easy because of the wet surface, causing unpredictable bounces in front of the net. The shutout win is O'Hare's seventh shutout win on the season and her eighth in her two-year career at HVCC.

The women's soccer team advances to a match up with No. 3 Onondaga on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. in Syracuse, NY.
