The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team played the No. 4 ranked Mohawk Valley Hawks well for the majority of the game, but was defeated 4-1 as they ran out of gas late, allowing two late game goals in the Region 3 road match in Utica, NY.

Mohawk Valley managed to break a 20-minute scoreless start to the game when Hinds converted on a corner kick for the first goal of the game at 21:32 on the clock. Nearly 15-minutes later, the Hawks scored again on a nice header by Mower, just out of the reach of the Vikings keeper, Josephine O'Hare. O'Hare finished with 10 saves over the 90-minutes of game action.

Prior to the halftime break, the Vikings jumped on the board as Lauren Foglia scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season at the 41:42 mark. Foglia collected the ball and send a deep shot to the back of the net for the score.

With nearly 10 minutes left in the game, the Hawks put two more goals on the board to secure the Region 3 win.

The women's program is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 8 as they travel to take on Tompkins Cortland, a rescheduled match from Sept. 13. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Dryden, NY
