Women's Soccer Dominates in 12-0 Win

Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (10-2-1) defeated Cayuga 12-0 in their final home game of the 2018 regular season. 

The Vikings didn't waste any time as they scored early and often on the Spartans for the Vikings 10thwin of the year. Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) and Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) combined to score seven goals in the Vikings dominant win. Clough scored on a header late in the first half on an assist from Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker). She later scored three additional goals in the second half for her third hat trick of the season and a career-high four goals in the game. 

Metzold, the Vikings leading scorer, also scored three goals in the win. She added a pair of assists for a total of eight points on the day. 

Jalaina Groncki (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) earned her first collegiate goal as a result of her hustle in the first half. Groncki followed up a shot that ricocheted off the corner post and sent it into the net for the Vikings fourth goal of the game. 

GoalkeeperBailey Dunn (Saugerties/Saugerties) didn't have to make a save as she secured her seventh shutout win of the year. 

The Vikings will travel to play Jefferson tomorrow, October 21 with the match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
