Women's Bowling Places Sixth in NJCAA Championship; Qualifies for National Sectionals

The Hudson Valley Community College women's bowling team participated in and finished sixth overall at the NJCAA National Tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. on Friday and Saturday, March 2 – 3, 2018.

As a team, the Vikings bowled 21 games and tallied a total score of 10,924 pins. The team totaled a score of 4,597 pins in the singles and doubles portion of the tournament.

Individually, Hudson Valley had three student-athletes finish inside the overall top-50 with Gina Patricelli (Troy/Lansingburgh) leading the way in fourth place. Patricelli earned NJCAA All-American honors with her top-8 finish as she scored 2,127 pins with a per game average of 177.3.

Kyla Day (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) finished just outside of the All-American honors as she placed ninth overall. Day scored 2,067 pins for a per game average of 172.3. Day finished nine pins behind the eight place finisher, Megan Heflin from Ancilla College.

Shannon Bristol (Troy/Lansingburgh) earned a top-40 finish as she placed 33rd in the overall standings. Bristol finished with a total score of 1,887 with a per game average of 157.3.

Kaylie Hull (Troy/Lansingburgh), Megan Gaige (Colonie/South Colonie) and Breanna Mysliwlec (Troy/Lansingburgh) rounds out the remaining Vikings team. Hull placed in 55th place with a total score of 1,688 and Gaige placed in 56th place with a total score of 1,676. Mysliwiec placed 83rd with a score of 849 in six games.  

The women's bowling team qualified for the National Sectionals, which includes the nation's top bowling programs, regardless of collegiate level. In order to qualify, the bowling team must be ranked as one of the top 64 women's bowling programs in the nation. The team will participate in the Sectional Round on Friday, March 9 through Saturday, March 10 in Stratford, N.J.
