Erin Fagan (East Greenbush/Columbia High School), a sophomore on the Hudson Valley Community College women's bowling team, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and to bowl at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Fagan, a two-time NJCAA All-American at Hudson Valley, teamed up with freshman Katie Duncan (Voorheesville/Voorheesville High School) to win the NJCAA doubles title in 2003. She also won the NJCAA singles title in 2002.
A member of the Hudson Valley volleyball team as well, Fagan led the Lady Vikings with 2.52 kills per game in 2002. She recently was awarded the Lester Higbee Memorial Award, which is given annually to the most outstanding female athlete at Hudson Valley.
Maryland-Eastern Shore, an NCAA Division I school located in Princess Anne, was among the nation's top collegiate bowling teams in 2002-03. Ranked in the top ten for much of the season, the Hawks finished 15th at the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships.
In the 2002-03 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 59 percent of their contests. The college's softball team won the Mountain Valley Conference and finished the season ranked 10th in the country. The men's soccer team completed its season ranked 14th in the nation, while the men's and women's bowling squads finished sixth and fourth, respectively, at the NJCAA championship tournament. Additionally, 31 Vikings earned All-Conference honors and three were given All-American status.
