Hudson Valley Community College's women's basketball freshman, Leah Pergola (Torrington, Conn. / Torrington) was named to the NJCAA All-America Third Team as announced by the NJCAA and the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee.

Leah started her career off strong as she scored at least 22 points in three of her first four collegiate games. She surpassed 30 points in a game four times, including a career-high 34 points in the Vikings 100-55 win over North Country on Jan. 23. Leah finished the year averaging 21.8 points and 9.3 rebounds, both team-highs, and added 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game over her 23 games played.

Pergola's 21.8 points per game ranked second in the Region, behind Region 3's player of the year, Andie Gannon (Fulton-Montgomery) and her 9.3 rebounds ranked ninth among Region 3 athletes. Leah was a sniper from behind the arc, shooting 34 percent from the three-point arc, which ranked third in Region 3. She hit five or more three-point field goals in a game seven times, including a career-best seven three-pointers in games against North Country (1/23) and Massasoit (1/31).

The All-American accolades are the latest in a season where Leah was also named to the NJCAA Region 3 First-Team and the Mountain Valley Conference First-Team.
