Women's Basketball Advances to Quarterfinals

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team earned a xx-xx win over Adirondack in the first round of the NJCAA Region 3 postseason tournament on Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Sports Complex.

The game started slow with the Timberwolves and the Vikings trading baskets for the first quarter with Hudson Valley holding on to a narrow 19-16 lead. In the second quarter, Hudson Valley outscored Adirondack 17-7 to extend their lead to 36-23 at the halftime break. Kat Stackrow lead all scorers in the first half as she shot 8-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-8 from behind the arc for 21 points and seven rebounds.  Stackrow finished the game with a game-high 28 points and 12 rebounds. 

Hudson Valley posted 17 more points in the third quarter as Stackrow continued to find the basket. Joining Stackrow, was Juju Lanier, who had posted 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists as they Vikings held a 53-32 lead over Adirondack into the final quarter. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle as Adirondack outscored Hudson Valley 8-4. Lanier also posted a double-double as she finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. 

The women's basketball team advances to the NJCAA Region 3 quarterfinals round and will travel to take on top-seed Onondaga for a 5 p.m. scheduled start in Syracuse, NY.
