Women' Basketball Uses Big Fourth Quarter to Seal Win at Finger Lakes

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team utilized a 25-5 fourth quarter run to bring an end to its three-game losing streak as the Vikings defeated Finger Lakes 69-48 on Saturday afternoon in Canandaigua, NY.

The Vikings and the Lakers exchanged baskets throughout the first half of the game with the Vikings taking a narrow 44-43 lead into the fourth quarter. Hudson Valley kicked off its scoring surge with a quick 8-0 run and continued to grow its lead throughout the fourth, securing their second win of the season. 

Kathryn Stackrow finished with a game-high 27 points and added eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Stackrow was essential to the Vikings huge fourth quarter rally as she shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor for 15 points in the quarter. 

Hailey Cascioli finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a team-high four steals as she shot 4-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. Nya Ewans-Edmonds recorded a double-double in 31 minutes played and shot 7-of-11 from the floor for 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also recorded a pair of steals and added four assists. 

The Vikings are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Corning at 12 p.m. in Corning, NY.
