Women's Basketball Falls to No. 5 North Country

Women's basketball defeated by North Country 76-59 on 2.9.20.

The Hudson Valley women's basketball was defeated by No. 5 ranked North Country Saints 76-59 on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

The Vikings had a tremendous start to the game as they jumped out to the early lead on the nationally ranked Saints. Hudson Valley led by as many as nine points with nearly two minutes remaining in the half before North Country pulled out a 7-0 run to end the half and trailed the Vikings 33-31.

In the second half, the Saints pulled away, utilizing a 15-5 run, which led to North Country outscoring the Vikings 23-10 in the third quarter. The Saints were led by Kayla Carder, who finished with a game-high 33 points on 12 field goals made. 

Leading the way for the Vikings was freshman Emily Erickson, who posted 17 points on two early three-point field goals and 11-for-14 from the free throw line. Alexandra Rifenburg added 11 points, while Kennedi Leak finished with 10 points. 

The Vikings are back home again on Sunday, February 16 when they welcome No. 10 Mohawk Valley to the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
