The Hudson Valley Community College softball team earned a quality Region 3 road win after defeating Onondaga 7-1 in game one before the fog rolled in and forced the second game to be cancelled for a no contest on Thursday afternoon in Syracuse, NY.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 7, Onondaga 1 (Final)

The softball team played extremely well in the first game of the day as they were led by Moira Collins, who pitched a completed game and allowed one run on four hits over the seven innings. She struck out six batters and surrendered just two walks.

Offensively, The Vikings rallied to score five runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull away from Onondaga for their third consecutive win. Kayden Craft and Anna Siter each tallied two hits for the Vikings and Erin Madsen and Siter drove in two runs each in the win.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley vs Onondaga (No Contest)

In the final game of the day, The Vikings started strong with a 3-1 lead but mother nature had other plans as the fog rolled through the area, causing the second game to be canceled due to low visibility. As the game did not reach five complete innings, the game is ruled to be a no contest.

ON DECK:

The Vikings home series on Saturday with Finger Lakes was canceled on Thursday evening, so the softball team will return to action on Sunday, April 21 as they travel to take on a very competitive Jefferson program in Watertown, NY. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m.
