Track and Field Competes at the Middlebury Indoor Meet

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field program competed in its final indoor meet of the season as they traveled to Middlebury, Vermont for the Middlebury Indoor Invitational.

Leading the way for the men's program was Brooks Robson, who finished with a personal-best jump of 13.93m (45' 8.5") in the men's triple jump event. Connor Holt, who earned a sixth-place finish in the pole vault event. Holt cleared the height of 3.50m (11' 5.75") on his first vault of the day. Antonio Filippone had a nice day in the men's shot put, where he tossed his best-throw 10.45m (34' 3.5") on his third throw of the day.

In the men's long jump event, Hudson Valley had two finish inside the top-10. Tyrese Pratt placed third overall with a final jump of 6.16m (20'2.5") and Raj Hillhouse, in his first career meet, placed 10th overall with a final jump of 5.71m (18' 9"). Pratt also placed ninth overall in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.75m (5' 8.75"). Dylan Lawless was right behind Pratt in the high jump event as he tallied a score of 1.70m (5'7"). Hillhouse also competed in the 60-meters dash and placed fourth overall with a final time of 7.29 seconds in the preliminary race before placing sixth overall in the final heat with a time of 7.35 seconds.

In the mile run, Cole Harris was the Vikings top finisher with a final time of 4:40.30, which placed him in 15th place overall. In the 800-meters event, Ian Shaw led the way for Hudson Valley and posted a final time of 2:16.09, which placed him 13th overall.

In the women's field events Iamies Hassan placed 20th overall in the women's shot put event with a final throw of 9.17m (30' 1"), which she achieved on her final throw of the day. Alexis Dunlavey earned a 17th place finish in the women's long jump with an official distance of 3.92m (12' 10.5").

Olivia Skylstad placed just outside the top-20 in the women's mile run as she posted an official time of 6:18.60. She also placed 10th in the women's 60m hurdles preliminary event with a time of 10.63 seconds.

Overall, the Vikings performed well across the board and they will now set their sights on the outdoor track and field season where they will kick off the season on Saturday, March 23 when they travel to compete at the Elmer Swanson Spring Classic in Middletown, Conn.
