Men's Track and Field Placed Third at Nationals; Benichoux National Champion

Hudson Valley Community College men's track and field program placed third in the NJCAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were hosted by Hudson Valley Community College for the first time in program history. 

The men's program compiled 76 points as they scored in 12 individual events, including 10 points from Charles Benichoux, who won the National Championship in the Men's 100 Meter Dash. Benichoux earned the win with a final time of 10.80 seconds, a new Outdoor Athletic Complex facility record. Benichoux also earned eight points with a second-place finish in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.34 seconds. 

In the Shot Put event, the Vikings Martin Bond was named a Second Team All-American as he placed runner up with a distance of 39.40 meters. 

Two-sport athlete, Isaac Jean-Baptiste took second place and was named the Decathlon All-American Second Team with a great performance in the 10 Decathlon events. Isaac won the Men's 1500 Meter Run with a time of 5:02.16 and placed second in the 110 Hurdles, the Long Jump, the Discus Throw and the Javelin Throw. He finished with a total Decathlon score of 4,382. 

During the Opening Ceremony, the USTFCCCA National Awards were presented to the country's best from among the three regions. Charles Benichoux was named the East Region's Male Track Athlete of the Year and Olivia Skylstad was named the East Region's Female Track Athlete of the Year.
