​It was a very productive Day 1 at the NJCAA Track & Field Championships in Utica Thursday. All of the events that the men were entered in on Thursday scored or qualified for the finals on Saturday. The Men's Team are currently sitting in 5thPlace overall with 14 team points. 

​The scoring started early with Elijah Washington finishing in 2nd place in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 44.79m. Very shortly after pole vaulter Isaac Brightbill vaulted to his second personal best in as many weeks, he finished in 4th place with a jump of 3.73. Holden Maynard finished in 8th place with a new personal best of 10:41 in the 3000m Steeplechase. Holden passed 6 opponents in the last 600m to score for the Vikings. Regardless of the 20mph headwind, the Men's 400m Relay of Christian Otorubio, Devin Kipp, Brandon Clancy, and Noah Vice found a way to a new season best of 44.25 in the trials finishing 4th overall. The relay team will be back it on Saturday when they race again for the Championship. 

​Jasmine Minick-Seldon was the lone female competitor on Thursday. Jasmine in dramatic fashion threw a new personal best, and what would also be a new school record on her last throw of prelims to secure a spot in the finals for the hammer throw. Jasmine finished in 9th place.

​On Day 2 of the NJCAA Track & Field Championship everyone will be competing once again. The first event of the day that will be a timed final in the 10,000m Race. Ryan Moon and Holden Maynard will be representing the Vikings. All other track events will be prelims, an athlete will need to finish in the top 8 in their respective races to move onto tomorrows final. The field events on Thursday will be finals. Noah Vice and Jamison Jurosz will be competing in the high jump, Alexis Holmes in the Discus, and Alayna Fredenburg in the Pole Vault.
