Men's Soccer Season Ends in Defeat

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer program had its season ended following a 6-1 road loss at Cayuga in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 3 playoffs in Auburn, NY.

The No. 6 seeded Cayuga team jumped out to a quick start on the Vikings and took a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break. In the second half, the Vikings put a goal on the board to cut the Spartans lead to 3-1 when Damien Cruz scored on a header off a corner kick from Tuyishma Gafasha early in the second half.

Cayuga did not let up as they managed to score three more goals in the second half to secure the 6-1 victory to advance to the NJCAA Region 3 semifinal round against Herkimer on Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Herkimer.

The Hudson Valley men's soccer program finished the season with a 3-9-3 record. Over the 14 games played, the Vikings scored 28 goals with 8.6 shots per game.
