Kampula Scores OT Golden Goal; Men's Soccer Defeats Adirondack

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer needed a few extra seconds to put Adirondack away as they Vikings won 1-0 in overtime at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on Thursday evening on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

The two programs fought for a full 90-minutes, plus the extra time, which the evenly matched teams appeared to be heading to an eventual tie game. Hudson Valley and Kevin Kampula had different plans as Kampula scored the golden goal less than a minute into the extra frame to secure the 1-0 victory.

The Vikings outshot the Timberwolves 17 to 6 and earned six corner kicks to Adirondacks two. Grant Bakerand Yan Thu led the Vikings with three shots of goal each and Aiden Travers earned the shutout win in goal. Travers took over for Kevin Charette at the 36-minute mark in the first half.

The men's program returns to the road for their next match as they travel to play North Country on Sunday, October 3 at 3 p.m. in Saranac Lake, NY.
