Men's Soccer Victorious with key win over Broome

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team put an end to its five-game losing streak and earned a hard-fought shutout win at home over Broome on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

The Vikings jumped out very early and attached Broome's defense, catching them off-guard as Cheick Meitecollected a pass from Jacob Altamirano to score his first goal of the season. 

A historic defensive battled ensued for the next 88 minutes of the match. A tough Broome defense and the Vikings spared their way a stalemate and when the smoked cleared, the Vikings earned its first win of the season. Goalkeeper Kevin Charette made several tremendous saves, including a penalty kick towards the end of the game, securing the win and the shutout. 

The men return home this Tuesday, September 28 when the welcome Ulster to the Outdoor Athletic Complex for a 6 p.m. scheduled start.
