Axtmann Scores Three as Men's Soccer Win Three-Straight

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team won its third straight game today after defeating Adirondack 5-0 in Queensbury, NY. 

The Vikings offense hit the ground running, scoring its first goal within the first 90 seconds of the game to go up 1-0. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Vikings at the half.

Hudson Valley came out of the half on the offensive as they found the back of the net four more times in the second half to secure its third straight win over the Timberwolves and improved to 3-1 on the year.

Garrett Axtmann (Castleton/Maple Hill) led the Vikings offensively as he scored three times to earn the hat trick. Ethan Samarija (Castleton/Maple Hill) and Avery Cummins (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) also scored for the Vikings on the afternoon. Ethan Thomas (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) collected his third assist on the season and Thilo Bell (Cohoes/Cohoes) also tallied an assist for the Vikings.

Benjamin Peay (Westerlo/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) manned the goal for the Vikings, grabbing three saves and earned his second shutout win in as many games.  

The Vikings are back home on Saturday afternoon when they face-off against Corning Community College at 3 p.m. on the turf field at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.
