The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team (2-1) earned its second straight shutout victory after defeating Ulster County Community College 1-0 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex in Troy, N.Y.

The Vikings and Senators played through a competitive first half of play with each team remaining scoreless at halftime. The Vikings offensive pressure in the second half helped set up the corner kick that put the Vikings in the lead 1-0.

On the corner, sophomore Ethan Thomas (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) took the kick for the Vikings, striking a well placed ball in the middle of the box to find Ryan Euell (Rhineback/Rhineback) in mid-air to convert the goal to the top left side of the goal.

Hudson Valley's defense secured the team's second shutout with consistent team defense for the final 28 minutes of the game, giving Ulster its first loss of the season.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 13 when they travel to face Adirondack with a scheduled game time of 4 p.m.
