The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team (1-1) earned its first win of the 2017 campaign as the offense connected for three goals to defeat Fulton-Montgomery (FMCC) 3-0 on Tuesday night in Troy.

Similar to the Vikings first game, Hudson Valley controlled the time of possession inside the opponent's half of the field. The Vikings did not wait long to score, as Ryan Euell (Rhineback/Rhineback) put a well placed ball out of reach of the FMCC goalkeeper with 44:14 remaining in the first half to give the Vikings the early 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 in favor of Hudson Valley at halftime.

The Vikings continued the second half by increasing the defensive pressure on FMCC, keeping control of the game tempo and put the game out of reach when Ethan Samarija (Castleton/Maple Hill) scored at 36:51 in the second half and Cetin Karaca (Guilderland/Guilderland) scored at 11:54 in the second half, increasing the Vikings lead to 3-0. The Vikings defense continued to hold strong to secure the Vikings' first shutout of the 2017 season.

Goalkeeper Kevin Granados (Glen Cove/Glen Cove) tallied four saves while his counter part from FMCC Jared Rubin (Guilderland/Guilderland) stopped 10 shots, including four at point-blank range.

The men's soccer team returns to action this Thursday as part of a double-header with the women's soccer program. The Vikings welcome Ulster County Community College for a 4 p.m. scheduled start time.
