Interim Director of Athletics, Justin Hoyt, announced that Hudson Valley Community College will be adding men's golf as a varsity sport for the 2017-18 academic year. Hudson Valley will be the 13th men's golf program to participate in Region 3 of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

With the addition of men's golf and the recently announced track and field program, Hudson Valley now offers 18 varsity NJCAA Division III athletics programs. This ranks second behind Mohawk Valley Community College for most varsity sports offered in all of Region 3.

The men's golf team will be coached by Alyssa Ruggiero, who is also the head coach for the women's golf team. Coach Ruggiero is an alumna of SUNY Cortland, where she competed on the women's golf team. During her time at Cortland, Ruggiero had one of the most prolific seasons in school history with three 1st place, two 2nd place, and two Top-10 tournament finishes.

Coach Ruggiero plans to begin recruiting in preparation for the 2017-18 season.
