Men's Basketball Scorches Nets in 111-98 Win

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team shot an impressive 65-percent from the floor tonight as they defeated Fulton-Montgomery 111-98 on Thursday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

An evenly matched game, the Vikings and Raiders traded baskets throughout the first half of the game as both programs shot 60-percent from the floor in a high scoring first half, which had the Vikings entering the halftime break leading 55-52. The Vikings shot 67-percent from the floor on 20-of-30 from the floor and 6-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. Trevor Greenpaced the Vikings offense with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting and played in all 20-minutes of the half. Kobi Wallace had a very efficient half with 13 points (6-of-7) in 12 minutes of action. Luke Bourgault also finished in double-digit scoring as he played 17 minutes in the first half and scored 11 points and added three rebounds and two assists. 

In the second half, the Vikings started to pull away, even after they fell behind briefly, the Vikings never faltered and continued their hot shooting, hitting 21 field goals (63-percent) for 56 points which led to the double-digit victory.

As a whole, Green had another career day as he finished with 36 points, shooting 13-of-16 from the floor and 9-of-12 from the free throw line. He grabbed six rebounds, tallied five assists and swiped three steals in 40 minutes of action.

Bourgault finished with 22 total points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from the three-point line. Wallace ended with 19 points and seven boards in 25 minutes of action. CJ Bianchino played 25 tough minutes as he was able to utilize his size to stifle some of the smaller guards on the Raiders. Bianchino finished with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting.

The win gives Hudson Valley their 13th win of the season as they improved to 13-6 on the year with two Region 3 games remaining in the regular season. The Vikings hit the road this weekend as they travel to take on a tough Mohawk Valley program on Saturday, February 12 at 12 p.m. in Utica, NY. In the previous matchup, the Vikings earned a historic victory over the Hawks on January 13th when they won their first matchup over the Hawks in over nine seasons.
