The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team improved to 1-2 on the season after going on the road to defeat Jefferson 84-75 on Sunday afternoon in Watertown, NY.

The Vikings center, Jourdan Belcher had a huge game as he guided Hudson Valley to the key Region 3 road win with 30 points. Belcher tallied 10 field goals and added 10 made free throws as he over-powered the Cannoneers defenders down low in the post all game long.

Hudson Valley started slow and were trailing the Cannoneers 46-34 at the midway point in the game, but the Vikings regrouped and outscored Jefferson 50-29 in the second half behind an increased effort in their defensive intensity and they improved their overall shooting percentage as Belcher continued to put pressure on the Cannoneers post defense. The Vikings were able to cut into the lead and ultimately take control for their second win of the season.

Trevor Green finished the game with 13 points and Aristide Gateretse added 10 points in the Vikings win.

The men's basketball team looks to extend their record to 2-2 as they host Adirondack this Wednesday, November 10 at 7 p.m in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
