The Hudson Valley Community College (12-10) men's basketball team used clutch free throw shooting to defeat Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 85-76, earlier tonight in Troy.
Hudson Valley finished the game 19-of-23 from the free throw line, including 18-of-22 from the charity stripe in the second half. Conversely, Fulton-Montgomery (11-7) only made 12 of its 27 attempts from the line.
Freshman forward Khylan Hunt (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) continued his strong play for Hudson Valley He registered his sixth consecutive double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. He also blocked six shots and came away with three steals.
Sophomore guard Aric Kucel (Gloversville/Gloversville High School) finished with a team-high 23 points, six assists and six steals for the Vikings. He also was seven-for-eight from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Maurice Frye (Middletown/Middletown High School) contributed 15 points.
Sophomore guard Deshawn Summers (Brooklyn) led Fulton-Montgomery with 24 points.
Hudson Valley will visit Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Saturday, February 5. The game will tip off at 3 p.m.
