Seven players finished in double-figures scoring for the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team in a 106-61 win over Schenectady County Community College earlier tonight in Troy.
Hudson Valley has won five of its last six games to run its record to 9-5 on the season. The Vikings have won 15 straight games over Schenectady under head coach Vince Medici.
Sophomore guard Markael Brace (Albany/Albany High School) led the Vikings with 26 points, six rebounds and four steals. Sophomore center Bill Heslin (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley High School) and freshman forward Bob Boughton (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School) each posted double-doubles for Hudson Valley. Heslin had 13 points and 14 rebounds while Boughton finished with 12 points and 12 boards.
Also finishing in double-figures scoring for the Vikings, were freshman guard Antwan Gibson (Troy/Troy High School) with 16 points, freshman guard Justin Smith (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) with 12 points, sophomore guard Josh Wysocki (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls High School) with 11 points, and freshman guard Tim Kindlon (Delmar/Bethlehem High School) with 10 points.
Freshman guard Dwayne Marshall (Amsterdam High School) led Schenectady (1-15) with 18 points. Sophomore guard Ben Yauchler (Duanesburg High School) hit five three-point baskets to finish with 17 points and sophomore forward Willie Turner (Albany High School) contributed 16 points.
Hudson Valley will travel to SUNY Delhi on Thursday, January 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
