Troy, N.Y., January 24, 2002 - After trailing SUNY Delhi by 10 points at halftime, Hudson Valley Community College's men's basketball team fought its way back into tonight's game midway through the second half. Hudson Valley's Joseph Bell (Albany H.S.) capped a 9-3 run by hitting a pair of free throws to tie the game at 49-49, but Delhi pulled away down the stretch and triumphed, 74-61, at Troy's McDonough Complex.
Hudson Valley also began the second half with an 18-11 tear, which was fueled by Jeremy Schneible (Greenwich H.S.)'s eight points.
The Vikings are now 9-8 overall. Delhi, ranked No. 4 in the nation among NJCAA Division III teams, is 16-1.
First-year guard Steve Valente (La Salle Institute) led the Vikings with 13 points. He was perfect from the field, hitting 5-of-5 shots, including three 3-point attempts.
