The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (11-9) defeated Schenectady Community College (0-17) on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings won game one, 13-4 and then took game two, 12-4.
During game one, the Vikings took a two-run lead in the first inning and never looked back, scoring seven more before the Royals recorded a run.
Alex Koshgarian (CBA/Cohoes) led the Vikings, going 4-5 at the plate with an RBI and two runs. Brendan Haverty (LaSalle Institute/Troy) contributed three RBIs, and Jonnie Benniefield (H.B. Plant/Tampa, FL), Jon Montesanti (Colonie/Niskayuna), and Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem) each recorded two RBIs in the victory.
Hudson Valley fell behind early in game two, but a five-run rally in the fourth inning and four-run rally in the seventh secured their seventh straight win.
Kyle Bestle (Tamarac/Troy) led the Vikings, going 3-3 at the plate including a double, two RBIs, and a run. Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/Saugerties) hit a two-run double, and Sean McLaughlin (LaSalle Institute/Melrose) recorded three runs in the victory.
The men host Schenectady on Thursday at 2 p.m.
