The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (7-9) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (5-7) on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings won game one 17-1, and then took game two, 14-4.
Hudson Valley jumped out to an early lead in game one, scoring four runs in the first inning. The Vikings continued their offensive dominance over the next three innings, with five in the second, five in the third, and three in the fourth.
Jon Montesanti (Colonie/Niskayuna) led the Vikings going 3-3 at the plate, and hitting a team-high of four RBIs. Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/Saugerties) also had a strong appearance at the plate, going 2-2 with a triple and a two-run homerun.
Jake LaFerriere (LaSalle Institute/Troy) pitched a full-game with two strikeouts, and only three hits in the victory.
During game two the Vikings gave up three-runs in the first inning, and bounced back to go on a seven run rally before giving up another run in the fifth. Hudson Valley secured their victory after scoring six in the fifth and one in the sixth, to end the game.
Teitter was again successful in the second game, going 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs. Also recording RBIs for the Vikings were, Jonnie Benniefield (H.B. Plant/Tampa, FL), Dominick Herald (CBA/Colonie), Brandon Cellucci (Averill Park/Troy), Luuk Visser (Thorbecke Voortgezet Onderwijs The Hague/Netherlands), Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem), and Kyle Bestle (Tamarac/Troy) in the victory.
The Vikings travel to Fulton-Montgomery on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
