The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (13-3) defeated Mohawk Valley Community College (4-18) 9-8 and 5-4 on Thursday afternoon.
In game one, Joseph Zabbara (Rocky Point/Miller Place) hit a deep homerun in third and followed that up with a double to finish with two RBIs, while Kyle Bestle (Tamarac/Troy) and Jeff Bink (Colonie/Colonie) combined to go 5-5 at the plate with five RBIs. Garrett Klahr (Shaker/Latham) received the win on the mound throwing 5.2 innings with five strikeouts, and Andrew McCullough (Bethelehem/Delmar) came in to strike out the side in the seventh to earn the save.
Bestle went 2-2 with an RBI in game two, to finish the day a perfect 5-5, and Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/Saugerties) added a homerun and two RBIs. Clayton Leisenfelder (Colonie/Albany) got the win on the mound going five innings with eight strikeouts, and Dylan Pollock (Catholic Central/Troy) came in to earn the two-inning save.
The Vikings travel to Columbia-Greene on Saturday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
