The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (17-7) defeated SUNY Adirondack (10-20) on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings won game one 14-4 and then came out and defeated Adirondack 12-8 in game two.
In the opening game, Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson) led the Vikings with three hits and four RBIs, and Liam Kelly (Catholic Central/Clifton Park) added three hits and three RBIs. Brandon Martinez (River Dell/River Edge, NJ) went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI, and Zach Steimer (Home School/Ballston Spa) got the win on the mound in game one.
Conte came back in game two with another big game going 4-5 at the plate with three RBIs. Matt Sand (CBA/Altamont) went 3-3 with four RBIs, and Connor McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) recorded two hits and an RBI. Mike Yamin (Troy/Troy) earned his second win of the year on the mound in the four-run victory.
The Vikings travel to Schenectady on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
