The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (15-7) defeated SUNY Adirondack (10-18) on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings won game one 10-1 and then shutout the Timberwolves 7-0 in game two.
Caleb Gregg (Chatham/Chatham) pitched a complete-game in game one allowing only one earned run and striking out seven. Matt Sand (CBA/Altamont) led the Vikings with three hits, and Brandon Martinez (River Dell/River Edge, NJ) and Zach Steimer (Home School/Ballston Spa) each hit homeruns to help pace the Vikings past Adirondack.
Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson) threw a complete-game shutout in game two on only two hits and four strikeouts. Martinez and Connor McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) led the team with three hits and two RBIs each, and Steimer added two hits and two RBIs in the win.
The Vikings travel to Adirondack on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
