The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (7-3) split with Fulton-Montgomery Community College (7-13) on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings won game one, 21-1, but fell to the Raiders in game two, 11-8.
Kyle McAlonie (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) led the Vikings with a three-run homerun, and Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson) hit a solo shot for his second of the year in the Vikings 20-run rout of the Raiders in game one. Ryan Smith (Hancock/Hancock) threw a complete game two-hitter in five innings of work, striking out 13 and allowing only one run.
Liam Kelly (Catholic Central/Clifton Park) led the Vikings in game two going 3-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Joe Bender (Guilderland/Guilderland) recorded two hits and two RBIs, and Conte added a hit and two RBIs in the loss.
The Vikings host Fulton-Montgomery tomorrow at noon for a doubleheader.
