The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (12-16) split with Mohawk Valley Community College (13-12)Thursday afternoon, losing game one 14-9 in eight innings and winning the second game by 11-2.
The Vikings rallied in game one at the bottom of the seventh behind a game-tying two-run homerun from John Craig (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park), but the Hawks put five runs on the board in extra innings to win 14-9. Kyle Brisson (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) and Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) each added two hits in the loss. It was all Vikings in game two, with the team scoring at least one run every inning. Andrew Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) led the team with three hits and three runs scored, and Brisson chipped in another two hits and two RBIs. Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) recorded a double, an RBI and one run scored, while Josh Temple (Cohoes/Cohoes) got the win on the mound, pitching five strong innings.
The baseball team travels to Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday, April 21 for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
