The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (4-12) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (1-13) 12-0 and 13-11 on Thursday afternoon.
Josh Temple (Cohoes/Cohoes) pitched his first collegiate complete-game shutout in game one, allowing only three hits on five strikeouts, and retiring 12 out of the last 13 batters to end the game. Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) had a big day at the plate, hitting two homeruns and seven RBIs. Andrew Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) added another homerun and Michael Brienza (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Ballston Lake) added two hits in the 12-run rout. The Vikings needed extra innings in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game. Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) led the team with three hits and Lushkevich added two more hits. Joe Amorosi (Schalmont/Rotterdam) recorded a double and three RBIs. Nicholas Viola (Niskayuna/Scotia) got the win, allowing no runs and no hits in two innings of work.
The team travels to Clinton Community College on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
