The Melvin Roads American legion baseball team, based in East Greenbush, recently won its first New York State championship, and will be playing for a chance to compete in the 2007 American Legion World Series. Four members of Hudson Valley's baseball team - pitcher Justin Shannon, outfielder Max Keado, infielder Mark Peluso and catcher Casey Job - are playing for Melvin Roads. They are coached by Hudson Valley alum Curtis Nobles.
Melvin Roads is 43-8 this season and has advanced to the eight-team Mid-Atlantic Regional in West Lawn, PA. They will meet Virginia state champion Staunton Post 13 in the opening round beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16.
