Former Hudson Valley Community College baseball player Chris Salamida has been selected to play in the 2006 New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Wednesday, August 16 in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Salamida, a pitcher for the Tri-City ValleyCats, is 7-1 on the season and leads the league with a 0.90 earned run average. He has allowed just 33 hits and struck out 44 in 50 innings of work this season.
Salamida was a 13th-round selection by the Houston Astros in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. He played for Hudson Valley in 2003 before transferring to SUNY Oneonta where he played in 2005 and 2006.
Former Hudson Valley standout Justin Meagher is playing professional baseball for the Traverse City Beach Bums. An outfielder, Meagher is batting .198 (21-for-106) for the Beach Bums, who are 46-30 and in second place in the independent Frontier League.
Meagher played for Hudson Valley in 2001 and 2002.
