The Hudson Valley Community College (22-15/12-4 Region III) baseball team cruised to a 12-0 win at Schenectady County Community College (14-14/9-8 Region III) earlier this afternoon.
With his complete game four-hit victory, freshman pitcher Nate Novak (Hudson/Hudson High School) improved his record to 8-1 on the season, becoming just the second Hudson Valley pitcher to post eight wins in a season. Gary Walcott was 8-0 in 1971. Novak struck out nine and walked three.
Sophomore centerfielder Mike Hart (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit a three-run double to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead in the second inning. He finished the game two-for-two with five RBI.
Sophomore Nick Testo (Wynantskill/Troy High School) and freshman Brett Weber (East Schodack/Columbia High School) also had two hits for the Vikings.
