Annemarie Nelson (Nassau/Columbia High School), a sophomore outfielder on the Hudson Valley Community College softball team, and William Lewis (Middletown/Middletown High School) each earned NJCAA All-American recognition in their respective sport for their play during the 2005 season.
Nelson, a First Team All-NJCAA selection, hit .424 (36-for-85) with four doubles, four triples and a home run for Hudson Valley in 2005. She drove in a team-high 25 runs in leading the Lady Vikings to a 21-9 record - their 18th consecutive winning season. She finished her two-year Hudson Valley career with 84 hits and 59 RBI.
Lewis earned Third Team All-NJCAA honors after posting a 7-4 record on the mound for the Vikings. He finished second among NJCAA Division III pitchers with a 1.64 earned run average, striking out 59 batters in 60.1 innings of work. Lewis ranks second on the college's all-time wins list with a 14-6 career record. Hudson Valley finished the 2005 campaign with a 34-15 record.
